Course Description
This foundational course introduces you to the world of sound in cinema and video. You will build a solid
understanding of sound principles while gaining hands-on experience in audio recording, mixing, and sound
design. Through practical sessions with professional equipment, you will develop the technical skills and
confidence needed to capture and shape sound as a key element of cinematic storytelling.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
• Master the core concepts of sound, including fundamental principles and essential terminology.
• Identify and use industry-standard equipment such as microphones, wireless systems, mixers, and
cables.
• Analyze acoustic environments and understand how sound behaves in different spaces.
• Apply sound measurement and perception techniques, including dB SPL, dB VU, infrasound, and
ultrasound.
• Explore microphone technologies and characteristics, from condenser to dynamic models and their
pickup patterns.
• Integrate sound with cameras such as DSLR, Alexa XT, and Mini Alexa.
• Operate professional audio recorders including the Zoom H6 and F8 Multitrack.
• Make effective technical decisions on set while staying aligned with current audio practices.
