Born in Jounieh Lebanon in 1978, Odette studied Cinema in USEK Lebanon and graduated in year 2000. After working for two years with acclaimed directors in Lebanese cinema she pursued a master degree in Cinema Studies in Paris 8, France in 2002.
Multidisciplinary artist, she developed projects in cinema, photography as well as in theatre.
As a director, her first short film “The Wall” (24mn) won prizes at Bird’s Eye Vue film festival in England in 2013 and Lebanese Film Festival in Beirut in 2014.
She also found interest in the nostalgic feel of super 8 format and filmed three tourné-monté, four minutes films, part of a trilogy on Longing. The first two, “verb to hold” in 2019 and “verb to sense” in 2023, were rewarded at Rencontres Cinéma et Vidéo in Nice, France. The third film being still in development.
Alongside writing and directing she played in movies as “Tramontane” by Vatche Boulghourjian Lebanon 2016 and “Skies of Lebanon” by Chloé Mazlo France 2020 selected in the section Semaine de la Critique in Cannes 2021.
In theatre, she played in “Mère”, the first Lebanese spoken play by the internationally acclaimed writer and director, Wajdi Mouawad. “Mère” was performed at Théâtre National de La Colline in Paris in 2021 and toured in different theatres in France and Europe in 2023.
In photography she published a book in 2016 “I hope to see your face” telling a personal story about a part of her mother’s side family in Homs, Syria before the war happened.
And now she is working on publishing a series of intimate photography books involving her work as well as the work of other multidisciplinary artists.
Her first script for a feature film is in development phase.
